This drug is indicated in the treatment of tobacco dependence in order to relieve the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal in subjects wishing to stop their consumption of tobacco.
Nicoretteskin transdermal patches in 25mg / 16h of nicotine (step 1) is recommended for smokers who are very strongly to highly addicted.

Composition
Each patch is 22.5sq.cm, containing 1.75 mg/sq.cm, releasing a nominal 25mg nicotine per 16 hours
- For a 22.5 sq.cm device: Nicotine 39.37 mg
- Excipients: medium chain triglycerides, basic butyl methacrylate copolymer, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film.
- Acrylate matrix: adhesive solution of acrylic copolymer, potassium hydroxide, croscarmellose sodium, aluminum acetylacetonate.
- Detachable protective sheet: polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film aluminized on 1 side and silicone on both sides.
For highly addicted smokers :
- Step 1: 25mg / 16h: 1 patch per day for 8 weeks
- Step 2: 15mg / 16h: 1 patch per day for 2 weeks
- Step 3: 10mg / 16h: 1 patch per day for 2 weeks
For lightly addicted smokers :
- Start with step 2
- Step 2: 15mg / 16h: 1 patch per day for 8 weeks
- Step 3: 10mg / 16h: 1 patch per day for 4 weeks
The patch must be applied to a healthy part of the skin in the morning upon rising, and removed in the evening at bedtime, approximately 16 hours later.
The application site should be changed every day, avoiding, if possible, replacing the patch in the same place for a few days.
